Which academic databases are supported?
ChatAcademia connects to 7 major databases: ArXiv, PubMed, Google Scholar, ERIC, Europe PMC, OpenAlex, and Semantic Scholar. You can search all of them simultaneously from a single interface.
How do credits work?
Credits are consumed when you use AI features like finding novel research questions, identifying research gaps, or chatting with the AI assistant. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance. The Free plan includes 500 credits per month.
What AI models are available?
We build our own AI models to fit the needs of researchers and academics. We are constantly improving our models and adding new features to make them more useful.
Can I use ChatAcademia for free?
Yes! The Free plan includes 500 credits per month, access to all 7 databases, and all AI agents. It's a great way to explore the platform before upgrading.
How is novelty scored?
Novelty scores range from 0 to 10 and are determined by AI analysis of existing literature. The system searches academic databases to assess how much existing research covers a question — higher scores indicate less-explored, more novel questions.
Is my research data secure?
Yes. We take data security seriously. Your research data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not share your data with third parties or use it to train AI models.
How does lifetime access work?
Lifetime access never expires — you pay once and keep access forever. Instead of a recurring subscription, you get a total credit pool. For example, the Elite Lifetime plan gives you 720,000 total credits (equivalent to 20,000 credits/month × 3 years), and the Ultimate Lifetime plan gives you 1,080,000 total credits. Each month, you receive up to 20,000 or 30,000 credits depending on your plan. The key difference from monthly/annual subscriptions is that unused credits are not lost — with subscriptions, your credits reset every month whether you use them or not. With lifetime access, credits are only deducted from your total pool when you actually use them. So if you use fewer credits than your monthly allowance, your credits last much longer than 3 years.
