Which academic databases are supported?
ChatAcademia connects to major databases including ArXiv, PubMed, Google Scholar, ERIC, Europe PMC, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, and Crossref. You can search all of them simultaneously from a single interface.
How do credits work?
Credits measure the AI work ChatAcademia does for you.
Monthly allowance
- Free: 500 credits
- Basic: 10,000 credits
- Elite: 20,000 credits
- Ultimate: 30,000 credits
What spends credits
- Every completed agent response uses credits. More search results, more papers, longer files, and longer context can raise the total.
- Your used credits are shown in each chat. Onboarding is free.
- Subscription credits reset each month. Lifetime plans unlock a monthly allowance from your lifetime pool and only deduct credits when you actually use them.
- The model table below is for reference only. Real credit usage depends on your input, selected databases, attached files, task complexity, papers analyzed, and response length.

We build our own AI models to fit the needs of researchers and academics. We are constantly improving our models and adding new features to make them more useful.
Can I use ChatAcademia for free?
Yes! The Free plan includes 500 credits per month, access to all databases, and all AI agents. It's a great way to explore the platform before upgrading.
How is novelty scored?
Novelty scores range from 0 to 10 and are determined by AI analysis of existing literature. The system searches academic databases to assess how much existing research covers a question — higher scores indicate less-explored, more novel questions.
Is my research data secure?
Yes. We take data security seriously. Your research data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not share your data with third parties or use it to train AI models.
How does lifetime access work?
You pay once and keep access forever — no recurring charges. Each lifetime plan comes with a total credit pool (720,000 for Elite Lifetime, 1,080,000 for Ultimate Lifetime). Every month, up to 20,000 or 30,000 credits become available depending on your plan. Unlike subscriptions where unused credits reset each month, lifetime credits are only deducted when you actually use them — so if you use less than the monthly allowance, your pool lasts longer.
